I found that one important thing to keep in mind when applying to internships is that while you may think you have no past work experience or skills to put on your resume, you are most likely wrong. The clubs and extracurricular activities you did in high school, whether it was art, dance, or peer counseling, are worthwhile when first getting started. You have to look at your involvements and think how did this help me structure my life – did I learn time management? Did I learn how to multitask school and multiple outside projects? Did I learn how to work well in a group, how to lead others or how to communicate with peers and supervisors? Don’t sell yourself short and assume these skills aren’t worth including in your resume, because they are, and these are abilities that come in handy in any work environment.
University Language’s for students and recent graduates includes a personalized questionnaire and interview so that your resume writer can choose your most valuable activities and skills to put on your resume.
